3 Levels of Learning
Beginning to Early Elementary
Written for the young beginner student ages 5-6, My First Piano Adventure captures the child’s playful spirit with five “friends at the piano,” charming songs, and rhythm and technique games.
Explore the “spirit of play.”
The acronym s.p.i.r.i.t. guides learning:
sing, play, in-motion, rhythm, i-see, technique
The A Books for The Young Beginner
In Lesson and Writing Book A, five adorable “friends at the piano” journey with the student in learning to play the piano. The pre-reading approach presents directional note reading, rhythm patterns, and first technique activities for success from the start!
Importantly, the online audio support features children singing for listening and practice. A “spirit of play” imbues Book A. When students listen, sing, tap, and play, a musical adventure takes place!
The B Books for The Young Beginner
In Lesson and Writing Book B, students read steps on the staff and meet composers Mozart and Beethoven—along with folk tunes and Faber originals. Theory includes writing activities, improv, and sightreading. Technique develops fingertips, hand shape, and fluid movement across the keys.
Importantly, the online audio support features children singing for listening and practice. When students listen, sing, tap, and play, a musical adventure takes place!
The C Books for The Young Beginner
Book A is based on pre-reading, Book B has steps on the staff, and now Book C uses skips on the staff. Themes of Haydn, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky blend with folk and jazzy tunes. Varied fingerings, wrist movement, and HT coordination develop technique. The online audio support features children singing and has a wide range of orchestrated styles.
Book C students can now play from the PreTime Books—Classics to Disney to Jazz & Blues.
