Emma has a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Commercial Music. She started on piano and voice at a young age and picked the oboe up in middle school shortly before joining the Utah Youth Philharmonic. She studied all three instruments throughout college, joining the BYU oboe studio and participating in ensembles including BYU's Wind Symphony and Jazz Voices. Throughout her playing career, she has performed with the Utah Symphony, received superior scores at State Solo and Ensemble competitions, and been nominated for a final spot in the Utah Theater Awards.
Emma is primarily a media composer, and she is expanding her career in video game composition. She wrote the score for Student Emmy Award-Winning animated short "Ram's Horn" and received a "Best Music" award from the One-Reeler film festival for her work on the Star Wars fan film "Emergence." When she isn't teaching, she's filling commissions for independent game developers and BYU stage productions. When she is teaching, Emma loves to adapt the musical style to the student and open their minds to the world of music theory!
