Jim Jansen, Music Instructor: Violin, Viola, Piano, Keyboards, Voice, Accordion
Jim Jansen is a highly experienced and versatile career musician, with skills in strings, piano, keyboards, and voice. He has studied violin in the Suzuki system with Elizabeth Mills, and also coaches students in orchestra repertoire, folk, sacred and other techniques. Jim has used a variety of piano methods including Faber, Alfred, Bastian and others. As a vocal coach, Jim specializes in folk and contemporary worship styles. His approach is positive and encouraging, and his students are both challenged and inspired in the joy of music. He has many hours of live performance on Korg and Roland Keyboards, and also plays and coaches accordion.
Mr. Jansen is an adjunct faculty member at Northwest University, teaching violin and viola and String Methods for Music Education Majors. He has been active in community music ensembles including the Rainier Symphony, where he plays violin. Jim holds music degrees in violin performance and choral conducting. He coordinated a school of music for a private elementary school in the San Fernando Valley near Los Angeles for several years.
He coaches young students through adults with equal ease. He typically tailors the instruction to the musical tastes of the student, from classical to popular to folk music.
