Cameron Sharif has been an active member of Seattle's jazz and improvised music since he began studying at the University of Washington in 2007. At the University of Washington, Cameron had the chance to study with jazz piano wizard Marc Seales, as well as grammy-award winning trumpet player Cuong Vu. In addition to playing piano, Sharif is well-versed on both organ and synthesizer. His abilities as a composer and bandleader are best found in the electro-jazz/rock fusion band Chemical Clock, a band that he has been composing music for since early 2009. Additionally, he leads the always playful and exploratory jazz trio Insistent Caterpillars.
As a teacher, Cameron is willing to meet the needs of his students, regardless of their background or skill level. He is not only comfortable teaching jazz, but also classical, pop, and blues music. While emphasizing skills like playing with good time and reading music, he is also willing to let students explore their stylistic preferences along the way. As passionate a teacher as performer, Sharif strives to naturally cultivate a joy of music in his students.
