Instructor - Dan Rapport

Daniel is a Seattle guitarist, keyboardist, and music instructor. He began formal music training on piano at an early age but eventually switched to guitar in the sixth grade after his mom played him Jimi Hendrix live at Woodstock. He attended Garfield high school in Seattle where he played in the award winning Jazz Ensemble directed by Seattle legend Clarence Acox. Some of the events Daniel performed in during his time in the Garfield Jazz Ensemble included: the IAJE Jazz Conference in Anaheim, CA, the Essentially Ellington Festival in New York City, the Lionel Hampton Jazz festival in Idaho, and the North Sea and Montreux Jazz festivals in Europe. After high school Daniel studied music at the University of Washington, eventually obtaining a degree in Ethnomusicology. He has been featured on many recordings in the past several years including three albums with his own band Red Eye Flight. Currently he teaches guitar and piano at Moore Brothers Music in Sammamish and plays in several Seattle-based bands including: Big World Breaks, Blue Scholars, Macklemore/Step Cousins, Funkscribe's Family Affair, and his own group Gems.
